Margarito “Richard” Mares, Sr., 69, of Clovis, NM, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, January 5, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 27, 1948 to Margarito and Eulogia Mares in Yeso, NM.
Richard worked for many years at Curry County Grain Company as a Mill Operator. He also loved to be at his son’s automotive service shop. In his spare time, he loved to fish and spend time with all of his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Richard is survived by: sons, Richard (Tamera) Mares of Clovis, NM and Tommy Mares of Clovis, NM; daughters, Debbie (Anthony) Pastor of Clovis, NM and Monica Mares of Clovis, NM; brothers, George Mares of Clovis, NM, Leo Mares of Clovis, NM, Robert Mares of Albuquerque, NM, Billy Mares of Houston, TX; sisters, Edemia Valdez of Clovis, NM and Peggy Banas of CA; grandchildren, Ryan Mares, Joshua Mares, Mark Cordova, Tiffanie Romero, Joseph Mares, Adrian Mares, Carlos Mares, Jennifer Tucker, Uriah Mares, Richard Mares, Moses Mares, Desiree Mares, Frankie Mares, Breanna Larson, Nathaniel Larson; great-grandchildren, Annalise Romero, Xavier Romero, Alex Romero, Jr., Natalie Romero, Angel Ray Cordova, Zach Parker, Shon Parker, Blake Mares and Allison Bardin. Preceding his death are his parents; brothers, Sammy Mares, Lazaro Mares, Cipriano Mares and John Mares; sisters, Eva Lopez and Rose Moya.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018, 2:00pm, at Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s honor to the American Lung Association.
Uncle Richard was always my favorite! He always had a smile on his face! He was very quick with a joke and could make us laugh. His own laugh was infectious! I have missed him so much since moving away, but he was always on my mind. Prayers to the Mares family!!
