Vera Fern Rasco, age 87, of Clovis, NM went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 8, 1931 in Clovis, NM to the home of George and Iva Pearl (Hines) Louderback.
When Vera was a young child she developed polio and was the second patient in the state of New Mexico placed on the iron lung. She did not allow any of the difficulties she encountered as a result of her polio to slow her down or prevent her from having a long and fulfilling life.
Vera married the love of her life, Harley Neal Rasco, on September 10, 1947. They soon began their family and she settled giving into her role as a homemaker. It was a role she both valued and loved very much.
Vera graciously and unselfishly gave her time to her many family and friends and cherished every visit and phone call. She enjoyed cooking and canning food with her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She was always grateful for an outing to the farmers market and grocery stores including Wal-Mart. Getting out of the house was a treat for her.
She enjoyed her many visits from her neighbor and longtime friend, Marie Walkup. She valued her relationship with her friend of 70 years, Dorothy Savage. She was extremely grateful for the love and caregiving she received from Tonya, Monica and Sheila at Interim Hospice, and especially from her beloved grandson, Dustin.
Her frequent phone calls from her sister Grace always got her smiling as they shared several laughs together. Her life was blessed with love beyond measure from all her many wonderful family members and friends.
Vera is survived by her son, Ray (Phyllis) Rasco of Chaparral, NM; daughters, Vicie (Edie) Starkey and Trela Rupp of Clovis, NM; sister, Grace (Malcolm) Ballard of Pineville, LA. Vickie and Trela and all the family I am so sorry for the passing of your Mama. May God heal your broken hearts and give you peace with your memories of sweet times with your Mama.
I went to Parkview school with you and we had parents that had good values and gave them to us.
Bless you in the coming days.
