Herman J. Chavez, 70, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away on October 24, 2017, at his home in Clovis, New Mexico.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2017, through Friday, October 27, 2017, at Steed-Todd Funeral Home from 9am-8pm.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Living Stone Nazarene Church, with Pastor Dale Wesley, officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis, New Mexico.
Herman was born in Clovis, New Mexico, to Guillermo "Willie" Chavez and Miquela Garcia Chavez on December 09, 1946. He worked as an electrical contractor & owner of Llano Electric. He was a member of the NRA and American Legion. He worked at Rainbow Bakery, Swift Meat Packing, as well as retiring from SPS as a high voltage electrician. Herman enjoyed camping, fishing, gun collecting, and hunting. He was a true family man.
Herman is preceded in death by both of his parents, Willie and Miquela Chavez, his beloved wife, Viola L. Chavez; and son-in-law Willie Garcia.
He is survived by his son, Max Chavez of Clovis, NM;, two daughters: Janie Chavez and Marcia Garcia both of Clovis, NM; sister, Ruthie (Luis) Huerta, 10 grandchildren: Victoria Perales, Herman Chavez, Matthew Perales, Denise Garcia, Joseph Garcia, C.J. Garcia, Max Chavez, Angelo Chavez, Frances Martinez and Isaac Martinez; 4 great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
Pallbearers will be Herman Chavez, Matt Perales, Joseph Garcia, C.J. Garcia, Max Chavez, Angelo Chavez, and Isaac Martinez.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Living Stones Nazarene Church in Clovis, New Mexico.
