Jose Manuel “Sammy” Flores was called to his Heavenly home to be with our Lord on Friday, October 28, 2022 at his home in Clovis, New Mexico. He was surrounded by family.
Mr. Flores was born on March 26, 1949 in San Angelo, Texas to Bertha and Enrique Flores. He proudly served in the Army and was a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.
He was a New Mexico Highlands graduate where he received a Master’s degree in Sociology. He later worked as a social worker for the State of New Mexico until his retirement. He was loved by many in Las Vegas, Clovis and San Angelo, Texas. He believed in the unity of family and enjoyed gatherings with food and music, dancing and laughter. He loved all his children, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Flores will always be remembered by family members as someone who was loved and respected by many. Mr. Flores was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Bertha Flores, Franky and Charlie Flores, his sister Delores Flores, brother Henry Flores, and daughter Armanda Flores Korn.
Mr. Flores is survived by his brother, John Manuel Flores; his sister Ofilier Mary Sierra of Clovis; daughters Melinda Hernandez and spouse Johnny Hernandez, Melissa Flores and Michelle Flores; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
