William Nance

William "Winkey" Lee Nance, 71, of Clovis, New Mexico died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the home of Preston and Sommung Nance. He was the fourth of seven children born to LeRoy and Robbie Nance on November 3, 1943 in Clovis, New Mexico.

Mr. Nance attended Clovis Municipal Schools until he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1962 where he worked at the Fabulous Cleaners. He returned to Clovis in 1977. He began working for the City of Clovis in 1978 as a lifeguard and later worked as the Recreational Assistant at Roy Walker until 2004. He also worked at Missouri Beef in Friona, Texas.

William loved life. He had a way of making you laugh no matter what mood you were in.
He was preceded in death by his Father, LeRoy Nance; Mother, Robbie L. Nance; three brothers, Larry, Howard, Theodore Nance; and brother-in-law, Joe Gooden.

He is survived by his brother, Preston (Sommung) Nance of Clovis, New Mexico; and two sisters, Bessie "Faye" Gooden of Compton, California, Marriann Ragsdale of Clovis, NM; Sister-in-laws, Mary Nance of Clovis, New Mexico, and Bertha Nance of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sons, Ricky Johnson of Clovis, New Mexico and Todd Jenkins of Las Vegas, Nevada; one daughter, April Eyrich (John) of Seattle, Washington. He is the grandfather of 9, and the great grandfather of 15.

He is also survived by his life time partner Brenda Depperman and her children, Cecilia Aranda of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Leslie Guest and Laure (Fred) Campagnuolo of Port Orange, Florida, Mario Depperman of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Daniel Aranda of Portales, New Mexico and Joshua Aranda of Clovis, New Mexico. He had several relatives and friends to celebrate his life.

William's Home Going will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories. Family and friends will be meeting at 2917 Virginia after all services.
