Willie Pennington

Willie Bernice Pennington, 90, formerly of Farwell, Texas, died on December 2, 2017, in Pearland, Texas. She was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on September 1, 1927, to beloved parents, William Jerry McIntire and Lou Ella Follis McIntire.

Bernice married Billie John (Bill) Pennington on July 25, 1947. They owned a small grocery store and made their early family home in Portales, New Mexico. They were married for 68 years until Bill's death on December 16, 2014.

Bernice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family dearly.

Bernice enjoyed a career as a dedicated secretary. She loved working with the public. She was a secretary at ENMU in Portales, New Mexico, a legal secretary for an attorney in Clovis, New Mexico, and also worked for a time in the Parmer County Court House in Farwell, Texas.
After retirement she enjoyed working alongside her husband Bill, in his Handyman business serving widows and the Farwell community.

She loved the Lord and she loved her church. She faithfully taught ladies Sunday school classes for many years, and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining and hosting church socials in her home.

Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Pennington; her parents, Bill and Ella McIntire; two sisters, Ora Lee Johnson and Sue Burcham; and three brothers, Harold McIntire, Allen McIntire, and Earl Wayne McIntire.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Rountree and husband Rick of Ft. Worth, TX, Mary Ann Stewart and husband Randall of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Marla Cook and husband Matt of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Melissa Diesburg and husband David of Williamsburg, Virginia, Aaron Stewart and wife Karen of Spring, TX, Joshua Stewart and wife Lacey, of Katy, TX; great nephew, Christopher Lusby and wife Melissa of Pearland, TX; great grandchildren, Megan, McKenna, and Eric Cook; Victoria and Davin Diesburg; Nathan, Ryan and Lela Stewart; Gavin, Titus, and Sadie Stewart; Benjamin and Bailee Lusby, and many other family members and friends.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. CST at First Baptist Church, Farwell, TX. There will be a time to visit with the family shortly after the service. A private family burial will be held at Portales Cemetery in Portales, New Mexico in the afternoon of December 12.
