Albert Grau

alignjustify Albert Lloyd Grau, 89, of Grady, NM died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. He was born January 6, 1918 on the family homestead, two miles south of Grady to Charles Albert and Ora Pearl Beck Grau.

alignjustify Lloyd graduated from Grady High School at age 16 in 1934. When he was 24, he joined the Army Air Corp and served 4 years in World War II. Lloyd married Maxine Bennett from Grady in 1947. Lloyd and his family have resided 1 miles south of Grady, and farming and ranching have been a family tradition since 1907. Over the years, Lloyd has been honored with American International Charolais Association AICA Seedstock Breeder of the year in 1978; Grand National Roll of Excellence Dedicatee in 1982; 32nd National Show Dedicatee; and he was inducted into the AICA Hall of Fame in 2006. Lloyd and Maxine celebrated their 60th anniversary this last April. Lloyd had a strong commitment to family, friends, his community, his country, and his faith.

alignjustify Lloyd served on the Grady School Board for 11 years, was active in the Grady Baptist Church, and frequently expressed his views in letters to the editor. He also belonged to the New Mexico Cattle Growers and the New Mexico Wheat Growers Associations. He loved music and playing the Mandolin was a talent he shared with many friends.

alignjustify He is survived by his wife, Maxine Grau of the home; two sons, Wesley Elnabeth Grau, and Lane Cheryl Grau both of Grady; four daughters, Linda Ty Powell of Plains, TX, Janet Grau of Palmer Lake, CO, Lura Ronnie Lee, and Kye Chris Thomas both of Clovis; fifteen grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

alignjustify He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mark Grau, a grandson, Marcus Grau, a brother, Earl Grau, and two sisters, Ruby Wilmon, and Pauline Waldrop.

alignjustify Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Grady Baptist Church with Rev. Rody Chesser officiating and Rev. Paul Burwash assisting. Burial will follow at Grady Cemetery in Grady, NM.

alignjustify Casket Bearers are Jimmy Lovorn, Dusty Lovorn, Colt Grau, Lebert Powell, T. J. Crowson, Caiden Thomas, and Marcus Grau in spirit.

alignjustify Honorary Casket Bearers are Adrian Vandevender, Russell Downey, Walley Fraser, D. H. Allen, Marion Ware, Elmer White, Johnny Bracken, and Jimmy Schell.
