Albert Martin

Albert Layne Martin, age 84, of Clovis, New Mexico passed away January 7, 2012 at Clovis Healthcare and Rehab in Clovis, New Mexico.

He was born on September 10, 1927 in Grady, New Mexico to William and Lantie Hankins Martin. He went into the United States Army after high school. He married the love of his life, Sue Mize. They ran a dairy and farmed. He began working for ShurGro Irrigation in the late 1950s. In 1972 he acquired the Zimmatic dealership and began Alberts Irrigation. He was a faithful member of the Westside Church of Christ. He performed many weddings in the community, including his childrens, and grandchildrens, nieces and nephews and many friends. He and Sue were active choir boosters and went on many choir trips. They even went on one after Dixi graduated to help out the choir director.

He loved his customers and friends but, most of all, loved his family. Albert was a kind, gentle, forgiving person and treated everyone fairly. He loved children and loved to sing.

He is survived by one daughter: Dixi Roy Burnett of Clovis, New Mexico one daughter in law: Barbara Martin of Clovis, New Mexico grandchildren: Tayci and Cutter Burnett, Daryl and Dedra Martin of Melrose, New Mexico, Dennis and Lexee Martin of Guymon, Oklahoma, Dustin Martin of Gonzales Ranch, New Mexico, Tommy and Maggie Martin one son: Michael Aragon of Clovis, New Mexico eleven great grandchildren one sister: Elaine Phillips of Ft. Worth, Texas two brothers: Preston and Doris Martin of Farwell, Texas and Duane Martin of Surprise, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son: Dicky Martin two brothers: Lavoy Martin and Darrell Martin five sisters: Glena Dunn, Nettie Belle Savage, Frieda Locker, Pearl Thompson and Alta Burkhalter.

Casket bearers will be Bill Adams, Wesley Myers, Bill Myers, Dell Graf, Keith Martin and Gene Sheets. Honorary casket bearers will be all of Alberts grandchildren, all friends and customers and the staff at Clovis Healthcare and Rehab.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Mission Garden of Memories with Greg Martin officiating.
