Alice Martinez

October 23, 1953 — October 7, 2006

Alice Gerhardt Martinez was called home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 7, 2006. She was born on October 23, 1953 to Henry and the late Theodora Judy Gerhardt of Puerto de Luna. Alice enjoyed studying God's word and spending time with her family and friends.

Left behind is her beloved husband of thirty seven years Johnny Martinez of Santa Rosa. Together they owned and operated the Comet Restaurant for over thirty years. Beloved daughter Juanita Wootton husband Sean and children Brooklynn, Skye and Marley of Texico. Beloved niece Sunshine Zamora husband Robert and children Robert Jr. and Adrianna of Santa Rosa.

Alice is also survived by her step children Casey and Steve Martinez of Albuquerque, Vicente Martinez of Santa Rosa, Sharon Redalman and husband Rick of Ohio, the late Luanna Martinez Sena and seven much loved step grandchildren.

Alice also leaves behind several deeply loved siblings Elizabeth and Peggy Gerhardt of Cincinnati Ohio, Nancy Gerhardt of Santa Rosa, Evelyn and husband Gabriel Rivera, Joe Gerhardt and wife Marcella, Frank Gerhardt and wife Patricia, Angie and husband Lawrence Apodaca all from the Santa Rosa, Puerto de Luna area. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.

For all that know and love her she is remembered as a godly woman who persevered to walk in a path of righteousness. She bestowed upon us love and understanding. She worked tirelessly and selflessly to be there for all those she loved asking but little and giving much. And if greatness is found, not in doing great things, but in doing small things, with great care and devotion, then she has touched us all with greatness. In her love of Christ she blessed us with grace, peace and strength. A true disciple of the Lord, she is an inspiration to us all. Her devotion to the Lord never wavered, her cancer simply be came her companion in her walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.

We, her family, will remember her with love and admiration. We will find her in the nighttime sky at the Gerhardt ranch, in the bend of the Pecos River as it winds through the ranch, or in the early morning mist on the Puerto de Luna road.

According to her deepest wishes a Rejoicing Celebration of her life will be held for close family and friends at the First Assembly of God Church Friday October 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m.

A meal will be held in her precious honor at the Comet Restaurant at 1:00 p.m. for family, friends and for all who were unable to attend the services and wish to pay their respects to the Martinez and Gerhardt family. Please come and join us for a time of love, food and fellowship in honor of a truly wonderful treasured gift from heaven.
