Alice Olguin

February 2, 1927 — June 20, 2015

Alice Olguin, 88, of Clovis NM passed away on Saturday, June 20th. She and her daughter were on their way to have lunch with a friend. She had just commented on a beautiful cloud formation and was happy to be visiting her friend when she merely closed her eyes.

Born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas February 2, 1927 as Alice Frankie Couch to Bob and Nora Couch. After high school they moved to Auburn, CA with her brother J.W. while her older brother Bill was serving in the Army Air Corp in Europe in 1944. Later that year she met, fell in love with and married Bill Haase. She worked as the school secretary at Alta Vista School in Auburn and in 1965 they moved to Santa Barbara where she got a job as a library assistant at Goleta Valley Junior High. She went to Santa Barbara City College to get her degree in library science. After retirement they traveled, moved around some and settled in Buellton where she could be found helping tourists at Solvang Visitors Center. Bill died in 1998 after 54 years of marriage. In 2003 she married Gus Olguin who passed 5 years later. She was a loving wife, mother and had hundreds of friends.
As both of her children had moved to New Mexico, son to Santa Fe and daughter to Clovis, she moved to Portales, NM two years ago to be near them and recently moved in with her daughter in Clovis. She was vibrant and in excellent health until the morning she passed. What a blessing she was to her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Lydia, son Mark, her brothers William Kiney, J.W., her half-brother Leroy, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Even though she will be missed greatly, when you think of Alice you can't help but smile.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Steed-Todd Funeral Home and Crematory, 800 E Manana Blvd, Clovis, New Mexico (575) 763-5541.
