Alma Mattie Sis Simmons was born November 8, 1913 in Grand Prairie, TX and died August 28, 2006 at the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 20 days. At the time of her death she was a resident at Beehive Homes in Clovis.

She was one of three children born to James Anson and Eula Faye Willoughby. At an early age she moved with her family to the Field community where she attended school and graduated.

She married Olton Tub Simmons also of Field and they made their home in that community where they were successful farmers and community boosters until Tubs untimely death in 1955 at the age of 44.

Sis, as she was affectionately known, by family and friends was a 4-H Club leader for 20 years. She was well known state-wide for her winning demonstration teams in the home arts. She was a long time member of the Methodist churches in Field, Melrose, and Kingswood, Clovis.

She moved to Clovis from Field where she lived until her death. She was employed a number of years by KICA radio as a receptionist and local newsperson. Because of her work with young people she was made an honorary member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Another of her interests was the Democrat party which she supported whole heartedly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James Eldridge and Jacob Nolan Willoughby. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, and many friends.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at Kingswood United Methodist Church in Clovis. Rev. Brad Reeves will officiate. Burial will take place at Melrose Cemetery in Melrose, New Mexico.

Pallbearers will be Len Vohs, Dan Younger, Jake Moberly, Paul Dee Barnes, Ribble Holloman, Clyde Gunnels. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lee Roach, Monroe DeBusk, Tony Romero, the staff from Bee Hive, and Betty Kangas.
