Amelia Torres

Amelia Ancira Torres, age 87 of Texico, New Mexico passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 in Amarillo, Texas.

Rosary will be at 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 5, 2023 in the Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel, Clovis, New Mexico. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Fr. Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in Mission Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arrangements are by Steed Todd Funeral Home.

Amelia was born on March 26, 1936 in Lockhart, Texas to Ramon and Lucia (Castillo) Ancira. She went to school in Lamesa, Texas. She married Raymond Torres on October 6, 1955 in Texico, New Mexico. She retired as a cook for Texico Municipal Schools.

Amelia loved Word Search books, crochet, BINGO, making hot tamales and the color turquoise. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She loved people and talked to everyone she came in contact with. She had millions of stories that she loved to share.

Amelia was preceded in death by two sons Joe Torres and Johnny Torres, her husband Raymond Torres, her parents Ramon and Lucia Ancira, four brothers and five sisters.

Left behind to cherish her memory are daughter Teresa Cabral and husband Javier of Texico, New Mexico; six grandchildren Senaido Cabral, Stephanie Cabral, Adrian Cabral, Annette Garcia, Lucia Silva and Juan Torres; ten great-grandchildren and a special nephew Frank Galvan.

Pallbearers will be Senaido Cabral, Adrian Cabral, Frank Galvan, Mario Posada, Juan Torres and Freddy Silva.
