Ann Screws

Ann Sis Screws, age 87, of St. Vrain, New Mexico, died Monday, January 31, 2011 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis New Mexico. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 5, 2011 at SteedTodd Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Baldock officiating. Casket bearers will be Blaynn Montgomery, Logan Screws, Lucas Screws, Dean Bruce, and Jaryn Bruce. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Annie Mae Richardson Screws was born on October 9, 1923 to Ervin and Lillie Pryor Richardson on the farm near Carter, Oklahoma in Beckham County. In 1930 the family moved from Oklahoma to St. Vrain, NM, where she attended school through the 8th grade. She graduated from Melrose High School in 1943 along with her brother Roy Lee. She married Garland Screws on September 20, 1947 in Roswell, NM.

She was a member of the Melrose Quilting Club and the GoGos Sams Club for many years. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, playing cards and bingo, and family reunions. Her true pleasure came from driving tractor, grain truck, or just about anything else outdoors.

She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Joe Bill Montgomery of Melrose one son, Douglas Karen Screws of Melrose three grandsons, Blaynn Montgomery, Logan Screws and Lucas Screws, all of Melrose one granddaughter, DLlaynn Dean Bruce, of Melrose two greatgrandchildren, Jaryn Bruce of Melrose, and Charmaynn Hall of Tucumcari one brother, Dennis Jimmie Richardson of Winona, TX four sisterinlaws, Lola Richardson, Ruby Richardson, Mildred Mapes and Margaret Screws and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents her husband of 49 years, Garland Screws granddaughter, Lynnsey Montgomery Hall three brothers, Aaron Richardson, Joe B. Richardson, and Roy Lee Richardson and one sister, Elva Knight.
