Anna Mitchell

Anna Mitchell or Dupie as she was known to friends and family was born October 24, 1915 at Forrest, New Mexico to John and Minnie Harris. She passed away at her home in Clovis on Wednesday, June 26, 2008. She attended school in the early days at Plain and later at Forrest. She attended 2 years of college at Las Vegas, New Mexico. She married Andy Mitchell on November 13, 1935 in Portales, New Mexico. They farmed in the Forrest Community in addition to owning and operating a small grocery store.

She was a member of the Forrest Baptist Church and was baptized in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She was very active in the Forrest Community Club. She loved to work with ceramics and teach and help others to learn the craft. After the death of her husband she moved to Clovis and continued her ceramics hobby.

She is survived by one son Danny and wife Pat Mitchell of Clovis; two daughters Karen Queener of Houston, TX; Andrea and husband Eddie Bigelow of Clovis; four grandsons Ricky and wife Karen Mitchell of Clovis; Gary and wife Annette Mitchell of Amarillo, TX; Ted and wife Dorothy Queener, Jr. of Houston, TX; Monty and wife Hope Queener of Houston, TX; three granddaughters Mandy Hampton of Hurst, TX; Kim and husband Tim Townsend of Euless, TX; Tracy Bombarger of Austin, TX; nine great grandchildren Kandi and husband Josh Wall, Collin and Andi Mitchell, Quinten and Andrea Queener, Cherlynn and Kirstin Townsend, Detrick and Dayton Bombarger; and two great great grandsons Levi and Mitchell Wall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five brothers Dayton, Paul, Sam, Grady and John; four sisters Edna, Myrle, Juanita, and Winnie; two daughters Paula Kay and Cheryl; and one grandson J. T. Mitchell.

Services will be conducted by Fred Caton, Monday, June 30, 2008, at 10:00 AM at the Forrest Community Church. Burial will follow immediately at Plain Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.

Memorial contributions can be made to Baptist Childrens Home, PO Box 629, Portales, New Mexico.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at Forrest Community Church burial will follow at Plain Cemetery.
