alignleftAnna Gene Stovall age 87 of Clovis passed away Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Retirement Ranch in Clovis. She was born January 4, 1921 in Clovis to J.D. and Thelma Gladys Rumph Crump.
alignleftShe graduated from Clovis High School and Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. On August 21, 1940, she married Travis Stovall and began her teaching career in Pleasant Hill, New Mexico. She and Travis then moved to T or C, New Mexico and later to Ft Sumner, New Mexico where she taught Math. She and Travis moved to Artesia, New Mexico in 1948 where he was the high school principal. They returned to Clovis in 1954 where Travis became the school superintendent and in 1965 he became the superintendent for the Alamogordo Schools. In 1977 they retired and moved back to Clovis to work the family farm. She was an artist, enjoyed bridge, a Sunday school teacher, loved to sing and was in her church choir, past president of the United Methodist Womens group, Director of Pan American Club in Alamogordo, member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a member of First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son Terry and his wife Pam Stovall of Texico, New Mexico; one daughter Sharon Stovall Benson and her husband Merle of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister Virginia and her husband John Reid of Ranchvale, New Mexico; brother-in-law Dr. M. Buren Stewart of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five grand daughters Brenda Kay Benson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Linda Carol Clark and husband Duane of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Jodi Stovall, Jill Stovall, and Jennifer Bartlett and husband Cole all of Clovis; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend Sadie Benson of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one sister Gladys Stewart.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Clovis with Rev. Harry Riser officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Pallbearers will be Lynn Hughes, Michael Wayne Reid, Wayne Reid, Frank Rusk, Armondo Dominquez, and John Woods. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Smith, Arvin Woods, C.J. Blackburn, Gary Reid, Joe Stewart, Dr. M. Buren Stewart, John Reid, Duane Clark, Lonnie Eaton and Quintin Woods. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1501 Sycamore, Clovis, New Mexico, 88101.
