It is with profound sorrow and pain that I announce the passing of my mother, Anne Cantonwine (64) of Tucumcari, NM (formerly Salida, CO) on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Arrangements are being made by Steed Todd funeral home. Private services will be held in Tucumcari.
Anne was born in Roy, NM on March 14, 1959 to Barbarita and Alfredo Medina. She married Douglas Cantonwine on June 2, 1990 in Salida, CO.
Anne started working at the hospital at a young age where she built many lifetime friendships. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Ward Clerk and thoroughly found fulfillment in caring for the patients. Anne was known for and deeply appreciated for her compassion, work ethic, and positive attitude.
She found great joy in caring for others through volunteer work at Caring & Sharing and Church. She had a deep appreciation for animals and enjoying nature. Those that had the privilege of knowing her say she had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up a room.
Anne is remembered for her kindness in helping others, for her great sense of humor, artistic talent, and love for puzzles and games including cards and Yahtzee. She enjoyed classic rock music, cooking, baking, and cake decorating. She treasured spending time with her family. She loved making the most of the holidays, and reading the bible.
She is preceded in death by her father, Alfredo, mother, Barbarita, husband, Douglas, and sisters Betty Romero and Bernice Medina. She is survived by her daughters Marisa Cantonwine and Pamela Olmsted, son, Jeremiah Cantonwine, sisters Corrina Mitchell and Della Estes, brothers Art Medina and Gene Chavez, great aunt Mary Burton, brothers-in-laws Mike (Sherri) and Fred (Gloria), and grandchildren Travis, Brittany, and Liam.
As her youngest daughter, Marisa, writing this, I can truly say that she was the greatest Mom in the world! She wasn't just my Mom, she was my best friend!
She is loved beyond words, and will be missed beyond measure! We miss you and love you, Mom! And we promise to always keep your spirit alive in our hearts!
