Beatrice Hood Maness, 92, of Clovis, New Mexico, died August 21, 2009, at Clovis Healthcare. She was born September 14, 1916 in Willow, Oklahoma, to Charlie Jewel Hood.
She grew up in Oklahoma and later came to New Mexico, where she met Kennie Maness. They were married December 24, 1939 and lived in the Grier community until moving to Clovis in 1967. She worked as a clerk in several stores, including Duckwalls and Stanleys where she worked for several years. In her later years, she took trips to London and several other places. She was a member of 16th Pile Church of Christ since the 1940s.
Kennie passed away in 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Richard Ray Hood.
She is survived by 2 sons, Charles Maness Lola and Ronnie Maness all of Clovis; 1 daughter, Carolyn Lewis of New Hope, Alabama; 3 grandchildren, Arnold Tony Lewis and Terri Fisher; a great grandchild, Melissa Sue Fisher and a great great grandchild, Donna Kay all of New Hope; 1 sister, Joan Ellison of Elk City, Oklahoma and 1 brother, Harold Hood of Willow, Oklahoma.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis with Jim Gammon and Doug Young officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories.
