Beatrice Rice

On Dec. 8 2006 Beatrice Bea Rice passed away at Laurel Plains Healthcare in Clovis, New Mexico at the age of 84. She joins her loving husbands Miley Evans, Charles McConnell, Bob Rice of Melrose, New Mexico and Dub Paddick of Melrose, New Mexico. She also was preceded in death by her parents, David and Virgie Roberts Carter; her siblings Jack Carter, Lloyd Carter, Opal Magee Mable Evans. She is survived by her daughter Gale Evans Eddy of Arizona; son John McConnell of Nevada; granddaughter Dawn Santos of California; grandson Richard Murray of Oregon; great grandchildren Kris Murray of California, Erik Santos of Guam; Kristen Santos of California, Ashley Murray of Oregon, Amber Murray of Oregon and brother Dale Carter of New Mexico.

Bea was born in Gorman, Texas and has been a resident and active part of the Melrose Community for over 34 years. Bea spent her years as a homemaker who helped on the ranch and she spent time helping out at the Senior Center. She was a waitress, cook and an amazing candy maker. Bea was known and loved by all. When someone in the community was sick or needed help you could always count on Bea to be there.

Bea was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Clovis, New Mexico and attended First United Methodist Church in Melrose, New Mexico. Viewing will be at Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis, New Mexico.

Funeral Services will be at First United Methodist Church in Melrose, New Mexico on Friday, December 15, 2006 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Melrose Cemetery.
