Benja Kathleen Kathy Blair Cornish, 66, died October 1, 2010 in StormontVail Hospital, Topeka, KS.
Kathy was born October 3, 1943 in Clovis, NM. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1961. Her love of music and directing started in high school. In the late 1960s she joined Sweet Adelines in Topeka, KS. Kathy was particularly interested in the barbershop sound and was honored to perform at Carnegie Hall when they opened their stage to barbershop. She has sung and directed in several different choirs and quartets in the Topeka area and was considered to be very innovative and accomplished, winning both local and national competitions as a director. She loved Sweet Adelines and it was always her passion.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, T.L. Blair in 2001, and her mother, Marilyn Blair in January 2010. She is survived by one son, Tommy Dean Cornish of Topeka, KS brother, Keith Blair and sisterinlaw Darla brother, Lynn Blair and sisterinlaw Cindy.
Graveside services will be conducted by Durward Wofford at Melrose Cemetery, Melrose, NM, at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Visitation will be at SteedTodd Funeral Home, Clovis, NM, Monday, October 4, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Fairlawn Heights Wesleyan Church, Topeka, KS, where Kathy was a member, on November 6, 2010, conducted by Pastor Ed Rotz.
