Bertha M. Wells, 88, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Monday, January 26, 2009, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. She was born March 17, 1920, in Guadalupita, New Mexico to Joseph Lillie Miller Regensberg.
She married Howard S. Wells December 21, 1941 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She was a longtime resident of Clovis and worked at Clovis Army Airfield until it closed. During a period when the base was closed, she worked at Montgomery Wards. She returned to work at Cannon Air Force Base until her retirement in 1978 as a procurement officer. She was a member of the American Business Womens Association, the Retired Railroaders Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Curry County Republican Women. She was a charter member of Parkland Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Jack Wells of Corrales, New Mexico and Mike Wells Karen of Clovis and two grandchildren, Greg Karly Wells of Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis with Pastor Doug Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories.
Casket bearers will be Jim Hailey, Dick Gressett, Charlie Eldridge and Alan Hamilton.
