Bessie Lebow

Bessie B. Lebow age 94 of Clovis passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. She was born March 27, 1913 in Dickens County, Texas to George Earl and Elizabeth Chloe Blair Briscoe. She lived on the Matador Ranch near Matador, Texas as a child and married Elvis Lebow September 1, 1928 in Matador. They moved to Maple, Texas where they farmed until Elvis went to work for the railroad. They came to Clovis in 1930 where they lived off and on being transferred from Vaughn and Belen over the years. Bessie was a member of Parkland Baptist Church and loved to paint, crochet, and was active with the senior citizens centers and the senior meal site in Clovis.

She is survived by her son Harry Lebow and his wife Ann of Clovis; one brother John Briscoe and one sister Betty June Bearden both of Matador, Texas; five granddaughters; eight great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, a son Marvin Ray Lebow, a daughter Wanda Kraft, her parents and two brothers James Meador and William Earl Briscoe.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Steed-Todd chapel with Wayne Boydstun officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, 2008 from 4 to 6 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be R.E. Wilkens, G.C. Holguin, Tim Westall, Michael Wells, Harry Lebow, R.D. Russell. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Clovis, the New Mexico Boys Ranch, or the Cal Farleys Boys Ranch.
