Betty Bailey

Betty Jean (Armstrong) Bailey, 79, of Broadview, NM, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Visitation will take place at Steed Todd Funeral Home in Clovis, NM on Friday July 24, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday July 25, 2015 at 10:00 am at Broadview Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Garth Hyde officiating. Final resting place will be at Grady Cemetery.

Betty was born in Clovis, NM to Ules and Maggie (Chandler) Armstrong on May 22nd, 1936. She grew up in the farming community of Broadview, graduating from Grady High School in 1954. During her high school years, she met the love of her life, Ralph Leroy Bailey, whom she married on October 28, 1953. Betty and Leroy farmed and ranched in the Broadview community, owned and operated Broadview Gas Company for 35 years, and raised their family in this community.

She was a beautiful Christian example and lifetime member of the Broadview Church of the Nazarene, serving as a Sunday school teacher, church board member, and church treasurer over the years. She was active in the Bonita Nazarene Camp and the Mesa Redondo Cowboy Camp Ministries.

To her family, she was a sports fan; rarely missing ballgames of her children or grandchildren. She enjoyed photography and genealogy. She LOVED the outdoors. While Leroy was the farmer in the family, Betty was the rancher; taking great pleasure in caring for her cattle, sheep, and chickens.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Ules E. Armstrong and Maggie (Chandler) Armstrong Coffman; her husband of 49 years, Ralph Leroy Bailey; and her daughter, Lugene (Bailey) Lord.

Betty is survived by her brother, Wendell Armstrong of Irvine, CA; daughter, Lanette (Leroy) Bley, of Bethany, OK; sons, Steve (LaRhonda) Bailey of Broadview, NM; Allen Bailey of Oklahoma City, OK, Hank (Sheila) Bailey of Grady, NM; Mike (Vickie) Bailey of Oklahoma City, OK; son-in-law Stephen (Kathy) Lord of Lovington, NM; 13 grandchildren, Chayson Lord, Alisha (Brock) Greenhill, Adrianne (Nathan) Wright, Jacob Bley, Bryce Bailey, Stephanie Bailey, Brooke (Kolter) DeFoor, Seth Bailey, Joshua (Jonie) Bailey, Brittany (Justin) Johnson, Isaac Bailey, Amber Bailey, Derek (Jessica) Bailey; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chayson Lord, Joshua Bailey, Derek Bailey, Bryce Bailey, Jacob Bley, Seth Bailey, Isaac Bailey, Brock Greenhill, Kolter Defoor and Nathan Wright. Honorary bearers will be Wendell Armstrong, Mike Ingram, Tommy Armstrong and all family and friends.

The family wishes to thank all relatives and friends who supported her and the family in prayer.
