Betty Elnora (Engelking) Embry, age 90, of Farwell, Texas, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in Friona. She was born April 19, 1933, in the YL community northeast of Muleshoe to E.E. (Ike) and Florence Engelking.
Betty grew up on a farm near Clays Corner and graduated from Lazbuddie schools in 1950. She married Floyd Embry on September 26, 1953, and moved to the Oklahoma Lane community near Farwell on January 12, 1954, where she lived the remainder of her life. She and Floyd enjoyed almost 57 years of marriage until his death in 2010. They were blessed with three children: Eldon, Weldon, and Estelle. She was a homemaker who enjoyed oil and watercolor painting, crocheting, traveling, canning produce from the garden, making quilts for the CASA organization, baking her famous homemade rolls, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Farwell where she taught Bible classes for many years.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Richard Engelking, and one daughter-in-law, Sherry Embry.
She is survived by her sons Eldon and Weldon Embry, both of Farwell, her daughter and son-in-law, Estelle and Brian Eckstein of Woodland Park, Colorado, 7 grandchildren and their spouses, and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Jerry Engelking (Louise), sister-in-law Marilyn Engelking, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Bluebonnet Home Health and Hospice in Friona for their care during Betty's illness.
