Bettye Murrell

BettyeJean Murrell was born to the late Charles William Morehead and Irene Frances Tunley in Topeka, Kansas on March 10, 1928. She left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, January 10, 2014. BettyeJean was raised in Topeka and attended Topeka Public Schools. She graduated from Topeka High School and Clarks School of Business with a degree in Court Reporting.

BettyeJean accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Topeka. She married Raymond Fox Sr. in 1946 from which four children Raymond Jr., Gail, Terri and Bonnie were born. She married Daniel Murrell Sr. in 1959. From that union one son, Daniel II was born.

BettyeJean moved to Clovis in 1975 following the death of her husband. She enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University and worked several jobs to get through college. She graduated from ENMU on December 18, 1981 with two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Sociology. She worked at New Mexico Income Support Division from 1982 until she retired in 1993. At that time she became a licensed day care provider and opened BettyeJeans Day Care and touched the lives of many babies and children until February 2013 when illness came upon her.

BettyeJean is survived by her sister Patricia Tunley, brother Oris Tunley Jr. five children, sons, Raymond Fox Jr Mamie and Daniel Murrell II Linda. Daughters, Gail Fox, Terri McBride, and Bonnie Stewart, all of Clovis. She has sixteen grandchildren. Raymond Fox III, Corey Fox, of Topeka and Deidre Declerk of Wichita, Shannon McBride Royal John of Clovis, Ria McBride of Phoenix, Tuanna Franklin, Lamisha Millow, Britny Fox, Yardi Fox, Lacey Fox, Lawanze Fox, Daniel Murrell III all of Clovis, Brianna FoxCarby of Alamogordo, Manuel Fox Garcia of California, Tradon Perkins, Amarillo, and Ebony Walker of Albuquerque. She has numerous great and greatgreat grandchildren, special nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step father Oris Tunley Sr. four sisters, Dolores Terrell, formally from Clovis, Eleanor Tunley, Shirley Jackson, Mercedes Cox, and her paternal and maternal grandparents.

BettyeJean was a member of Faith Christian Family Church.

Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Faith Christian Family Church in Clovis, New Mexico with Pastor Rick Rainey officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, New Mexico. Pallbearers are BettyeJeans grandchildren Raymond Fox III, John Royal IV, John Royal, Yardi Fox, Lacey Fox and Lawanze Fox. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Fox and Daniel Murrell.
