Bill Grimes, 85, of Portales, New Mexico, died Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales, New Mexico. He was born July 14, 1925 in Greenville, Mississippi to Capt. William T. Sr. and Josie Knox Pippin Grimes.
He served in the Army Air Corps. He was a farmer and rancher and prior to that was self employed at Grimes Auto Supply. He married Rosita Love March 5, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He loved to play music and played the drums in bands for many years. He played with Hattie and Charlie Young and numerous other bands at the Country Club, Midway and the Clovis Hotel.
He is survived by his wife, Rosita Grimes of Portales 2 daughters, Ann Nation of Clovis and Barbara Brown of Carrollton, Texas 2 sons, Billy Grimes of Midland, Texas and Tommy Grimes of Odessa, Texas 8 grandchildren, Becky McKittrick, Richard Brown, Cindy Waterman, Kristy Grimes, Jordan Grimes, Julia Sanchez, Katherine Maul and Kristie Carrillo and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents his first wife, Imogene Grimes November 30, 1975 1 son, Chris Jehnsen October 26, 2005 and soninlaw, Dale Nation March 16, 2009.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010, at Grady Cemetery in Grady, New Mexico with Richard Elworth officiating.
Honorary casket bearers will be his friends and family.
