Bill Skinner, age 60, of Clovis, New Mexico died Saturday, September 1, 2007 at his home in Clovis. He was born October 19, 1946 in Clovis to Willard and Aileen Bomar Skinner. A resident of Clovis for most of his life, he was a jeweler, contractor, plumber and ultimately a professional fisherman and fishing Guide.
The founder of BassMex Fishing Trips and the Lake Huites Trophy Bass Lodge, Skinner has been featured in many sporting magazines and on numerous fishing television programs, demonstrating his talents and teaching others, and co-hosted the fishing show Bassn Mexico. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he helped mentor many in
iduals, and attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses. Bill was also a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the North American Hunting and Fishing Club and many other sporting organizations, and was a sponsored pro staffer for over twenty sporting goods companies. His family and friends remember him as the kind of man who would go out of his way to help others materially, emotionally and spiritually as best he was able.
He married Mary Donato Skinner November 3, 1982 in Fort Sumner, NM. He is survived by his wife Mary; four sons, Stanton Foster McCandlish of Albuquerque, NM, Jessie Flores and wife Sabrina of Oklahoma City, OK, Billy Bob Skinner of Albuquerque, and Austin Skinner and wife Luz of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Autumn Skinner of Clovis; one brother, Bobby Skinner, and wife Deborah of Clovis; four grandchildren, Nathan, Estefan and Andrea Flores all of Oklahoma City, and Azalea Garcia of Phoenix.
Services will be Thursday, September 6, at 10:00 a.m., at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis, with burial to follow, near his parents, at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
