Billie Alexander

Billie Bedford Alexander, age 100, of Clovis, NM passed away on June 7, 2014 in Odessa, Texas.

Billie Bedford Alexander was born July 9, 1913 in Douglas AZ, the fifth child and the first daughter of Benjamin F. Bedford and Nancy Anthony Bedford. She has been a resident of Clovis since 1928. In December 2012, while she was visiting her sister in Odessa, TX, she fell at the doctors office. Since then she has been in and out of the hospital and nursing home. She has been loved and cared for by her sister Jewel and niece Linda. She desired that her body be returned to Clovis for burial.

She married Marion Alexander on June 9, 1934. She and Marion operated the Alexander Market and Food Store along with Alexander Wholesale Produce on West Seventh St. for more than 50 years. They were both active members of the 16th and Pile St. Church of Christ since 1946. She was also a Rebecca.

One of Billies joys was to serve not only her family but also others. She was famous for her cakes and pies which she cooked and generously shared with others. She always shared what she had with the needy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marion, her parents, five brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by one sister, Jewel Bedford Hanks of Odessa and one brother, Benjamin Bedford and his wife La Nell of Evanston, IL, along with many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family, as well as a host of dear friends.

She has requested that in lieu of flowers, an offering be sent in her name to the Christian Childrens Home in Portales

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 16th and Pile Church of Christ in Clovis. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories, in Clovis.
