Bobbie Jean Andrews passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at her home in Melrose, New Mexico after a long struggle with heart disease.

Bobbie was born on September 10, 1934 in Paris, Texas, to Arthur Florence Cooper Long. Her family came to New Mexico in September of 1944. They lived at Weber City, Forrest, Logan, and Hobbs before moving to Melrose in 1950. Bobbie married Willy Andrews on August 25, 1951, in Clovis, New Mexico. They moved to their farm in 1955. Bobbie helped Willy farm for 25 years. She also worked for the telephone company in Melrose for six years. She mostly enjoyed her time at home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Melrose.

Bobbie is survived by her husband, Willy Andrews of the home two sisters, Ruth Fair and husband Loa of Blytheville, Arkansas and Jinnie Bell and husband Lee of Wolfforth, Texas one brother, Arthur Long, Jr. and wife Marleen of Wolfforth one niece, whom she referred to as her kid Laura Sissy Gleasner of Albuquerque, New Mexico and her caregiver, Sally Russell of Melrose. Sally and Bobbie adopted each other and Sally spent the last three months making sure Bobbie was able to stay at home. Bobbie is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many of her Melrose kids.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents two sisters, Betty E. Long Ritter and Clara Mae Long three brothers Sam T. Bill Long, J. Keith Long and Nickie R. Long three nephews, Freddie Roberts, Deral Roberts, and Bill Morey.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Melrose with Rev. Loa Fair and Bro. Durward Wofford officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be Joe Bill Montgomery, Joe Ritter, Terry Lowe, Wayne Ritter, Chris Cason, Keith Long and Allen Russell. Honorary casket bearers will be John Long, Tim Ritter, Randy Robertson, Tammy Batchelor and Grady Bright.

Memorial contributions may be made to the youth group at First Baptist Church in Melrose, P. O. Box 167, Melrose, New Mexico 88124.
