Bobby Corder

Bobby G. Corder was born February 16, 1931 in Roswell , New Mexico to Finis Lonzo and Layghton Forest Corder. He was raised at Milensand, New Mexico and moved to Portales in 1946, were he attended Floyd High School. While attending High School he also drove the school bus and picked up all the children in the area. He met his wife Sylvia Stephens Corder at a Tupperware party and married her May 13, 1950. In 1951 he worked a short time for the railroad. After being laid off from the railroad he went back to helping his dad on the farm. In 1955 he started working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company where he worked until he retired in 1984. After retirement, he started working for Eastern New Mexico University where he also took care of their telephone system. He retired from there in 1995. Mr. Corder owned and operated B H Security until his son took over the business.

He is survived by his two sons Curtis Benna Corder, of Lubbock, Texas Henry Sherry Corder of Clovis one daughter Cecilia Michael Maenle of Clovis six grandchildren Shelly Tip Fullerton, Jana Corder, Michael Gia Dick, Brent Krisi Corder, Stephen Dick, and Jennifer Corder ten great grandchildren Destiny, Nathan, Cerena, Jaxton Fullerton, Allison Fullerton, Abigail Corder, Allison Corder, Peyton Corder, Victoria Dick and Lauren Dick. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother T.J. Corder.

Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Parkland Baptist Church with Bruce Kirby and Rev. Dick Ross officiating. Burial will follow at the Portales Cemetery in Portales, New Mexico. Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Parkland Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his Sunday School Class at Parkland Baptist Church. Family suggest donations be made in his name to Parkland Baptist Church.
