Bob Sherwood age 66 of Tucumcari, New Mexico passed away at his sons home in Portales on November 6, 2009. He was born January 20, 1943 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas to Stanley Victor and Maudine Frances Jones Sherwood. He was raised in Dexter, New Mexico and lived the majority of his life in Grady, New Mexico. He also lived in Portales and was a current resident of Tucumcari, New Mexico when he died. Bob worked as a truck driver and was also a farmerrancher. He was the past Fire Chief of the Grady Fire Department, former city councilman of Grady, and Member of Grady Baptist Church. Bob loved working on cars, riding motorcycles, and shooting prairie dogs.
Bob is survived by his wife Pat Sherwood of Tucumcari, New Mexico; seven daughters Becky Crawford of Denver, Colorado, Ralinda Wayne of California, Karen Sherwood Dan of Denver, Colorado, Lavern Sherwood of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Kim Case Doug of Denver, Colorado, Pam Robinson Jason of Denver, Colorado, and Lesa Salvador Emerson of Tucumcari, New Mexico; one son Bobby Sherwood of Portales, New Mexico; two sisters Mary Payne Jack of Roswell, New Mexico, and Margaret Koetter of Roswell, New Mexico; three brothers Mike Sherwood of Oklahoma, Robert Sherwood Lilly of California, and Tommy Sherwood of Roswell, New Mexico; fifteen grandchildren Tyson Crawford, Jene Crawford, Jon Wayne, Eric Wayne, Brittany Case, Donnie Case, Kheldon Sherwood, Khobie Salvador, Aleeja Salvador, Nemie Salvador, Kaylle Case, Dougie Case, Alexis Robinson, Grayson Robinson, and Kia Robinson; eight great grandchildren T.J. Crawford, Zaiden Crawford, Zachary Crawford, Gabriella Wayne, Abigail Wayne, Kyra Lee White, Baylee Salvador, and Joyce Salvador; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Norman Sherwood, Jerry Sherwood, and his mother-in-law Ora Lee Karr.
A memorial dinner will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grady Senior Citizens Center in Grady, New Mexico. Cremation will take place with no viewing. Memorial contributions may be given to the Baptist Childrens Home, Grady Scholarship Fund or the Grady Volunteer Fire Department.
