Brandel L. Hobbs, age 39, passed on to be with our Lord Thursday morning, Nov. 7, 2013.
After heroically battling cancer for over a year, he slipped away peacefully in his home surrounded by those he loved, lived for, and laughed with.
Brandel graduated from Clovis High School in 1992 and from the University of New Mexico in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. During his time at UNM, he was a devoted brother in the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and held several offices, including chapter President.
Brandel married Natalie Palla on July 29th, 2000, and they lived together in Clovis for three years while Brandel worked as general manager at Zia Power Sports. The couple then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where Brandel pursued a career in law enforcement, graduating from the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy in July of 2005 and subsequently serving with both the Scottsdale Police Department and the Arizona State Capitol Police.
In 2011, after the birth of their second child, Brandel and his family returned to their hometown of Clovis, New Mexico where he pursued his dream of running his own business and in July of that year he started Z2 Powersports.
Brandel was an avid trout fisherman and an accomplished golfer. He also loved to run and participated in several half marathons. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Born in Clovis, New Mexico on July 5th, 1974, he is preceded in death by his grandfathers Robert Hammond and Stanley Hobbs and his aunt Patricia Hammond.
Brandel is survived by his wife of 13 years, Natalie Palla Hobbs his son Alden his daughter Audrey father Jim Hobbs mother Linda Lewis Barry brothers Layton Sara and Jeremy Michelle his grandmothers Jane Hammond and Midge Hobbs many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins and inlaws. He has taught us all to be strong and brave, to face our challenges and treat each day as a celebration of life.
Brandels wife and family express their most sincere gratitude for the love, support and prayers throughout this journey. Our most heartfelt thanks go to the Hospice team at Plains Regional, who brought honor, dignity, strength, comfort and compassion to us during his last weeks.
Visitation will be held at SteedTodd Funeral Home in Clovis from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 10th.
There will be a Rosary Service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Sunday, November 10th at 7:00pm.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 11 also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. With Father Carlos Chavez officiating and Jeremy Hobbs, Layton Hobbs, Wayne Palla, Eric Palla, Joe Hatchitt, and Dick Shaw serving as Pallbearers. Ryan Shaw, Kirk Fly, and Joel Hettinga will be Honorary Pallbearers.
A private burial will take place in the days to follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
To honor Brandels fight against cancer and to help others receiving treatment in Clovis, the Brandel L. Hobbs Memorial Fund has been established at The Citizens Bank of Clovis. Brandels desire was to assist the Clovis Cancer Center in establishing an ambulatory treatment center or other needed services or equipment.
