Bruce R. Deavours, 82, of Texico, New Mexico, died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at his home. He was born October 4, 1927, in Rural Lubbock County, Texas, to Hurshel Paul Myrtle E. Fails Deavours.
For the last 81 years he had lived in New Mexico, primarily in Clovis. In his earlier years, he worked for the State Highway Construction Department and built many highways in New Mexico. He married Joyce Mullinax Blackburn June 3, 1975, in Clovis. He was a painting and building contractor in Clovis for over 50 years. He took great pride in his work and was highly respected in the construction community. He served a four year term as a Curry County Commissioner. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clovis.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Joyce Deavours 2 children from a previous marriage, Bruce Robert Deavours Rebecca of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Sue Deavours of Fort Sumner, New Mexico daughterinlaw, Kathy Deavours of Loveland, Colorado 2 stepsons, Gene Blackburn Sherri and Donnie Blackburn Chris both of Amarillo, Texas his grandchildren, Michael Don Tucker, Michael Paul Deavours, Jason Deavours and Tracy Lynn Reimbold many step grandchildren and great grandchildren in Texas, Colorado and Ohio and 1 brother, Hurshel P. Deavours Sue of Frederick, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents 1 sister, Elda Reynolds 2 children from a previous marriage, Mark Deavours and Kay Deavours and 1 stepdaughter, Connie Sue Blackburn.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Grady Cemetery in Grady, New Mexico.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010.
