Buren Bud D. Johnston, age 95 of Clovis, New Mexico passed away on November 20, 2012 at Retirement Ranch in Clovis, New Mexico.
Bud was born on March 12, 1917 to Dallas and Yola Loban Johnston in Belleview, New Mexico. He grew up in the Belleview and Grady communities. He served in the Army during WWII where he was a prisoner of war in Japan for three and onehalf years. He was a survivor of the Bataan Death March. Bud married Lucile Carter on June 5, 1948 in Clovis, New Mexico. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a welder for twentynine and onehalf years, retiring in 1981. Bud was a member of the VFW, American Legion and IOOF at Grady. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Clovis.
He is survived by his wife, Lucile Johnston of the home two sisters, Gladys Gordon of San Jon, New Mexico and Cora Henson of Clovis, New Mexico, numerous nieces and nephews and one sisterin law, Pansy Johnston of Socorro, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents one brother, Berna Johnston and one sister, Rita McCormick.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012 in the SteedTodd Chapel in Clovis, with Damon Pearce, officiating. Honorary casket bearers are members of the Mens Bible Class at Central Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories with full Military honors presented by the Cannon Air Force Honor Guard.
