C. Max Lowry, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed from this life on Friday, May 14, 2011. He was born in Nara Visa, New Mexico on May 27, 1927. He served in the Navy during WW II, and as a Lieutenant in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Albuquerque was his home since 1942, except for twelve years in Clovis. He moved his family to Clovis in 1963 as the local manager for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. Max was deeply involved in civic activities and served as Lt. Governor, Division III of Kiwanis Chapter Chairman of the Curry Co. Red Cross District Commissioner for the Llano Grande Boy Scouts, among many others. He attended 16th and Pile church of Christ where he served as a deacon. He also was a member of Telephone Pioneers, Albuquerque Lodge No. 60 A.F. A.M., and Ballut Abyad Shrine, and served as a reserve police officer for the Albuquerque Police Department. Lowry retired from U.S. West Telephone in 1983 with 37 years service. He was a retired Elder of the Netherwood Park Church of Christ, and was currently a member of West 21st Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Jody Lowry of the home children Linda Baldock Steve of Clovis, Sandy Farley Arnold of Columbia, MD, and Jeff Lowry Cathy of Cedar Crest NM. six grandchildren Patrick Baldock Kalynn and J.W. Baldock Tammy of Clovis, Deaun Robinson of Phoenix, AZ, Alexis Willardson RKay of Vernal, UT, and Wyatt and Miles Salmons of Albuquerque and nine greatgrandchildren.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at SteedTodd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis, with Larry Tittle and Steve Baldock officiating. Internment will be at Sunset Terrace in Farwell, TX. Memorial contributions may be made to the NM Christian Childrens Home in Albuquerque, NM.
