Carl K. Bledsoe, 88, of Clovis, New Mexico died Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Farwell Convalescent Center in Farwell, TX. He was born Februrary 21, 1919 near Asher, Oklahoma to John M. and Mary C. Mayme Kidd Bledsoe.
The family moved to Clovis in 1930 and he attended school in Clovis and at Center. He graduated High School in 1936. He attended Eastern New Mexico University until 1937 when he was employed by Clovis Printing Plant. He moved from Clovis in 1941 and worked for the Department of Agriculture in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and then moved to Albuquerque where he was employed by the Internal Revenue Service.
In 1942, Mr. Bledsoe entered the Army and served in Europe and Africa for 33 months before being discharged in 1945. He married Emily Sedlacek on November 18, 1945 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clovis.
Mr. Bledsoe operated an office supply store in Roswell from 1946 to 1950 when he was called to serve in the Army again in 1950 and discharged in 1951. He came back to Clovis and operated Clovis Office Equipment which he owned until 1971 when he sold the business to Marvin Holland. He was then employed by Sears where he worked from 1972 until his retirement in 1983.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Bledsoe of the home; one brother, Maurice Bledsoe Edith of Kerrville, TX; one niece, Sharon; and two nephews, John and Phillip. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Rosary for Mr. Bledsoe will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clovis. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10: A.M. on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
