Louise Simms Anderson

Louise Anderson, 83, passed away Wednesday, July 11, at Hamilton House in Lubbock, TX surrounded by her family who loved her so much. She was born September 30, 1928 near Okemah, Oklahoma to the home of William and Nellie Greenfield. She attended school at Pharoah, OK through the 10th grade, then moved to Buckeye, NM in 1944. She was graduated from Lovington High School in 1946. She went to beauty school in Okmulgee, OK and worked there for a short time before moving to Lubbock, TX where she worked at the bus
station and then later at Dunlaps Dept Store.

She moved to Clovis in 1951 to work at Dunlaps where she went on a blind date arranged by a coworker. Two weeks to the day later, on July 15, 1951, she married L.D. Manzy Simms in Portales, NM. They worked side byside as owners of the Clovis Steam Laundry Dry Cleaners until his failing health required her constant attention. After Manzys death in 1973, she began her long and happy employment as a saleslady at the Blue Room where Louise enjoyed her coworkers and many customers. Louise had an amazing eye for fashion and
was always dressed with class and style.

Louise remained a widow for 18 years before marrying O.L. Jack Anderson on December 27, 1991. They enjoyed almost twenty years together, spending time at the cabin in Eagle Nest, visiting relatives, enjoying churchrelated activities, working in their yard. Favorite things in their later years included eating at Dairy Queen each evening, eating lunch at the senior meal site, and taking many interesting and adventurous drives on a daily basis.

Louise was an incredible cook, known especially for her homemade rolls, and was also a talented seamstress. God blessed her with a beautiful soprano voice, which she shared for many years singing at weddings and funerals in a group of special friends that she affectionately called the Deadbeats. She was a longtime member of the 16th Pile Church of Christ and was in the Alpha Theta sorority for many years. Wherever Louise was, and whatever she was doing she made sure everyone was having fun. She maintained her quick wit up until illness robbed her of the ability to do so. She loved her children and grandchildren without boundaries and extended that love to her newlyacquired family when she married Jack.

She was predeceased by her husbands Manzy Simms on August 23, 1973 and Jack Anderson on November 25, 2011 an infant son Bill on September 3, 1955, her parents, a sister Lois Graham, and a brother Bill Greenfield.

Louise is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann and husband Ken Cable of Clovis a son J. Pike and wife Erleen Simms of Roseburg, OR a sister Mary Ellen OQuinn of New Braunfels, TX stepdaughters Judy and Mike Wilson of Charlotte, NC Linda Watkins of Dallas, TX grandchildren, Barrett Cable, Kara Copeland, Mitchell Simms, Maryn Simms, Michael Wilson, Llala Wilson, Benjamin Watkins and five greatgrandchildren, Madi, Kyle, Mason, Emma Grace, and Hadlee.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the 16th Pile Church of Christ with Eric Dickey officiating. Pallbearers will be Barrett Cable, Tony Cable, Randy Cable, Mark Copeland, Tommy Firestone, and Willie McEndree. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Hospice of Lubbock and also Steve Gina Hamilton of Hamilton House in Lubbock, TX for the compassionate, loving, above and beyond care they provided to Louise during the final months of her life.
