Cecil Thomas "Tommy" Fryar Jr. entered into heaven on September 23, 2024. He was born on October 15, 1939, to Cecil and Juanita (Smith) Fryar in Clovis, NM.
Tommy served in the US Army from 1960 through 1967 working with Nike Hercules missiles as part of the Army's Air Defense Artillery during the Cold War era. After leaving the Army, Tommy attended Eastern New Mexico University. He began his professional career working with the Santa Fe Railroad as a civil engineer. He worked with the company at various locations across the United States until 1992. Towards the end of his career, he worked with Bartlett & West, eventually moving to Ft. Worth, TX, where he retired in December 2005.
Tommy enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf with family and friends. In his later years, he would ride his bike 20 miles or more in one day on a regular basis. He also loved spending time with his dog, Blue, taking walks and building relationships with his many neighbors. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Cora Lee (Wallace) Fryar to whom he was married for 44 years; parents, Cecil and Juanita; sister, Patricia Ann Fryar-Leverich and an infant brother.
Survivors include two sons: Colonel Ronny Fryar (Debbie) of San Antonio, TX; Reverend Mark Fryar (Gretchen) of El Reno, OK; three grandchildren, Maddison and Jackson Fryar of El Reno, OK, and John Fryar of San Antonio, TX; niece Kristi (Elliott) Plant of Miles City, MT; nephew Ryan Elliott of Clovis, NM, plus many other family members.
Services will be on November 16, 2024, at 2:00pm, in Clovis, NM, at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with Rev. J. Vaughn Gossman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Living Stones Community Church of the Nazarene in Clovis or to the Northside Church of the Nazarene in Fort Worth, TX.
