Charles H. Gant, age 85, of Farwell, Texas, died on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Castro County Nursing Home Rehabilitation Center in Dimmitt, Texas. He was born on March 25, 1926, in Wellington, Texas to James and Bessie Mae Summers Gant.
Charles was a US Navy Veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He married Aleene Harom on July 21, 1979 in Clovis, New Mexico. He retired as the Principal at Gattis Junior High School in Clovis.
He is survived by his wife, Aleen Gant, of the home daughter, Lisa Paul Fisher of Macon, Georgia stepson, Sidney McGee of Clovis, New Mexico brother, Pat Neta Gant of Weatherford, Texas two sisters, Allie Watson of Amarillo, Texas, and Fran Gordon Holz of Minnesota.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents one son, Greg and brothers, Clifford, Raymond and Kenneth Blackie.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at St. James Episcopal Church with Father Alan Brockmeier and Father Larry Mote officiating. Casket bearers will be Sidney McGee, John Irwin, Jim Hunsucker, Dewey Pierce, Bobby Tanner, and Robert Slagle. Honorary casket bearers are the former staff members at Gattis Junior High School.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Episcopal Church or Matt 25 Hope Center.
