Spc. Charles Edward Martin age 27 of Fort Polk, Louisiana passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Fork Polk, Louisiana. He was born November 13, 1984 in Raf Upper Heyford, England to Benny Martin and Misti Burrage. Charles attended High School in Colorado and moved to Clovis where he attended school at Clovis Community College before entering the U.S. Army where he currently was active duty with the Second Bravo Infantryman Scout Airborne, Charles served in Vincenza, Italy and in Afganistan. Charles loved all types of music, taking his sisters and friends to the movies, hunting with his dad, vacationing with his Nan and Pop, animals, and his family said he was a real people person. Charles hated airplanes so he joined the Army and ended up airborne so he could be the first person out of the aircraft.
Charles is survived by his Father Benny Patty Martin of Larkspur, Colorado Mother Misti Scott Everrett of Clovis, New Mexico Sisters Ashleigh, Randaleigh, Haleigh, step sisters Tiffany, Amy, Crystal, step brother C.J., grandparents Ed and Barbara Burrage of Clovis, many close friends that he considered to be brother and sisters. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Nonie Martin.
Closed Casket Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Steed Todd Chapel with Rev. Eric Fields officiating followed by Full Military Honors by the U.S. Army. Cremation will follow at Steed Todd Crematory. Visitation for the public will be held Sunday, March 25th at Steed Todd from 68.
