Charles Petty, 79, of Ranchvale, New Mexico, died Monday, January 11, 2010, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, New Mexico. He was born September 5, 1930, in Ranchvale, New Mexico, to J. H. Lena Fowler Petty.
He was raised in the Ranchvale Community and graduated from Ranchvale High School in 1948. He married Clella Hays December 24, 1950, in Clovis. He farmed and ranched all his life in the Ranchvale Community. He was a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union and served on the board for 18 years. He was an avid sports fan and loved to cook. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ranchvale where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Director.
He is survived by 1 daughter, Cheryl Herring Dale of Perryton, Texas 1 son, Dale Petty Christine of Albuquerque, New Mexico 5 grandchildren, Bryan Petty, Lisa Gershon, Jonathan Petty, Carrie Colbert Kelli Colbert and 6 great grandchildren, Aubrie, Ethan, Noah, Madison, Melanie and Viviana.
He was preceded in death by his parents his wife 1 brother, Mitchell Petty and 2 sisters, Alice Bell and June Montgomery.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Ranchvale with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom and Greg Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Casket bearers will be Billy Tate, Doug Reid, Frank Blackburn, Hubert Qualls, David Hovey E. G. Abernathy. Honorary casket bearers will be all his friends and neighbors.
