Charlie Vernon Venable, 94 of Clovis, NM, passed away February 27, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM.
Visitation will be Friday March 3, 2017 from 6:00 - 7:30pm at Steed Todd Funeral Home in Clovis, NM.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10:00am at the Fairview Primitive Baptist Church (5th and Johnson) in Clovis, NM. Elders Ronnie Hedges and Steve Baldock will be officiating. Graveside services will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Vernon was born October 29, 1922 to C.T. and Lucy Venable, he was the youngest of five children. After serving in the Army Air Corp during World War II he married Miss Betty Gean Farner on August 23, 1947. Vernon was a Primitive Baptist minister serving churches in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico for 60 years. He had a lawn service in Clovis for 50 years as well.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Gean of the home. Son Wayne of Clovis, NM; Daughter Susan Widner and husband Terry of Ft. Worth, TX; Daughter Julie McLeod and Husband Mack of Buffalo Gap, TX; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Vernon is proceeded in death by his parents C.T. and Lucy Venable; brothers Ernest and Olan; sisters Hazel and Velma; daughter Carol Bolen and granddaughter Megan McLeod.
Pallbearers will be Paul Sacket, Chris Markin, David McLeod, Mack McLeod, Michael Widner and Terry Widner.
