Charlotte Kaye Cookie Jefferson was born April 7, 1959 in Roswell, New Mexico to Jessie and Johnnie Lawrence.
She attended public school in Roswell and graduated in 1977 from Roswell High School. While in high school, Charlotte was involved in Home Economics and Choir. Following high school, she attended ENMU-Roswell and later graduated from Clovis Community College with an Associates of Arts degree in Business Administration.
Charlotte was employed by Southwestern Public Service and Kmart in Roswell. She volunteered in Clovis schools and worked as a substitute. She then became self employed and worked from her home until her health failed. She loved to cook, help others and taking care of her family.
She accepted Christ at an early age in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Roswell, NM where she was involved in Sunday School, BTU, Choir and YMA. She served at the Greater St. John Baptist Church in Forth Worth, TX. Upon moving to Clovis in 1990, she joined First Church of God in Christ where she worked faithfully with the Nursing Board, Choir, Hospitality Committee. Cookie became a licensed Evangelist in 2001. She served as secretary of the Pentecostal Central District and worked diligent for her local, district and state church.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her mother and father, three sisters; Susan Antionette Lawrence, Dorothy Dell Brown, Doris Marie Kearney; three brothers; Danny Earl Oliver, Edward Lee Moore and William Ray Oliver, and a granddaughter; A Myah Jones. She is survived by her husband Nigel Jefferson at the family home, three children; Eugene Lamont Jefferson and Kendra Denise Jefferson both of Clovis, Danielle Nicole Jefferson of Groesbeck, TX, two grand children; NaJaye Jefferson and Kaziah Jefferson both of Clovis. Cookie is also survived by five sisters, Jacqueline Levingston of Groesbeck, TX ; Shirley Diana Wheeler of Clovis, Brenda Jackson of Portland, OR; Elizabeth Ann Gault of Portales, NM and Frances Tiny Rhoden also of Clovis, NM; An adopted sister; Suzie Dale of Cliff, NM. She will be greatly missed by her favorite niece; Angela Moore of Roswell, NM and host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and church family.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006 at First Church of God in Christ in Clovis with Bishop W. Charles Green officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
