Christine B. Sena, 65 years old, died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at her home in Portales, NM surrounded by her children and grandchildren. After her valiant fight with cancer, her strong will to live and unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her home with his son, Jesus Christ on Easter Day.
Christine was born April 4, 1950 in Clovis, NM to J.J. Montano and Maria (Armijo) Montano. She married Joe H. Sena in July 1967 and they had three children, Joseph, Adrian and Cynthia. She was blessed with another son Timothy Lee Salas in 1980.
Known for her ease in conversation with others and for the beauty she found in the little things, she would crystallize and cherish them and place them in her curio.
Christine had a passion for dancing, butterflies, lighthouses and the color red. Leaving those behind she loved, she left each one a piece of her to take with them to remember her by. Christine will always be remembered for her love, thoughtfulness of others and laughter she brought into your life, also her famous green chili with pork chops and homemade tortillas.
She preceded in death by her father J.J. Montano, husband Joe H. Sena, brother Robert J. Montano and niece Maria Montano and nephew in law, Benjamin Griego.
Survivors include her mother Maria (Armijo) Montano, children Joseph (Melissa) Sena and Adrian (Cindi) Sena of Clovis, NM. Cynthia (Rob) Ward of Santa Fe, NM, and Timothy Salas (Stacy) of Corpus Christie, TX. Brothers Frankie (Olga) Montano and Gary Montano of Clovis, NM and Richard Montano of Artesia, NM. Sisters Gloria (Juan) Gomez, of Phoenix, AZ, Sinfora (Jesse) Lumbrera, Yolanda (Frank) Cortez, Connie Montano (Bill) of Clovis, NM. Her Grandchildren JD Sena, Leandra Pena, Desiree Sena, Brittney White, Christopher Sena, Brianna Sena, Esai (Beetle) Sena, Timothy (T.J.) Salas and the little love of her life, her great grandson Jacob Nathen Alvarado, II.
Her nieces and nephews, whom she left an imprint on each of their hearts. She is an angel to watch over them while she is dancing in Heaven with the Lord Jesus to her favorite song Law Unica Estrella, painting Heaven Red, lighting it up with her lighthouses while she relaxes with comfort knowing she was loved by her family by the lakes in Heaven, with butterflies dancing over her.
Pallbearers are J.J. (Montano) Nikon, Gary Montano, Freddy Garcia, Jesus Lumbrera, Josh Rojas and Robert Domanski.
Honorary Pallbearers are her nieces and nephews, and all of her friends.
The family would like to thank PRMC Hospice nurses Jennifer McKinney and Mila Garcia for all their love and beautiful care they provided for our mother.
