Clara Dutton, 73, of Clos, NM, left this earth to be with her heavenly father on June 23, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Darrell Tennefos, officiating. Serving as Pallbearers are Dennis Dutton, Jr., Avery Annino, Aria Annino, Brinley Griego, and Aiden Davies.
Clara was born in Lockney, TX to Tom and Minnie Mae (Brown) Smith on October 9, 1943. She was the oldest of ten. She married Donald Ray Dutton on October 9, 1959 in Lubbock, TX. Work started at an early age for Clara, cutting broom corn, and helping take care of her siblings. In 1969 the family moved from Lubbock, TX to Clovis. In 1970, she and Don took over and operated Mabry Dr. Phillips 66, which they leased from Ingram Oil Co. for almost 30 years. After Don retired she worked for Conway Oil Co. for several years. She then worked for Renal Kidney Center before retiring in 2010. She had a work ethic second to none. Clara was loved by everyone who knew her.
Clara is preceded in death by her mother Minnie; her father Tom; her step-father Ralph Schoonover; her sister Tammy Cain; and her brother Ralph Shurburn Schoonover.
Clara is survived by her husband of 57 years Don Dutton; her children, Roger Dutton, LaDonna (Gene) Martin, Dennis (Anna) Dutton all of Clovis; her sisters, Jo Culwell of Rising Star, TX, Treasure (Royce) Chance of Slaton, TX, Margaret (Eddy) Wilson of Lubbock, TX; her brothers Isaac (Theresa) Schoonover of Post, TX, Ricky Schoonover of Lubbock, TX, Linda Schoonover of Lubbock, TX, Jimmy (Canzada) Schoonover of Lubbock, TX, Benny (Shanna) Schoonover of Slaton, TX; Five grandchildren, Katrina Davies of Amarillo, TX, Kendra Griego of Clovis, NM, Angel Roldan of Anadarko, OK, Adam Hernandez of Tucson, AZ, Andrew Roldan of Clovis, NM; twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
The family of Clara Dutton wishes to extend sincere thanks to the Gentiva/Kindred Hospice and their staff, Jill, Diane, Stacie, Cathy and a special thanks to all their neighbors that watched over them.
