Cleta Ewers

alignjustify Cleta D. Ewers, 85, of Clovis died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Beehive Homes in Clovis. She was born August 25, 1921 in Texico, NM to John W. and Callie Wilson Droke. She married Walter C. Ewers in Morton, TX on December 21, 1946.

alignjustify She is survived by daughter, LaDona Beevers, a grandson, Walter Beevers Kerrie, a granddaughter Sharla, two great-grandsons Trate and Colt Beevers, and a great-granddaughter to be Kimber all of Clovis. She is also survived by her older brother, Cleon Droke Ruthie of El Paso, TX; three sisters, Cleo Lowery of Pee Valley, KY, Johnie Smith Bob of Clovis, and Bunchie Robinson Jimmy Joe of Clovis; a brother-in-law, Fred Ewers Marilyn of Stephenville, TX; her chosen grandchildren, Toni Merchant Jack, Beth Merchant and Jackie Merchant; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Walter in 2000.

alignjustify She had a long and interesting life. She started working at the Clovis Steam Laundry at a very young age. She worked in the Curry County Clerks Office and served as a deputy sheriff. Cleta worked at Cannon Air Force Base in the Transportation Management Office for 33 years. Upon her retirement, she went to work at the Kings Inn. She loved her family and spent her later years driving her husband and enjoying her grandchildren.

alignjustify Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Steed-Todd Chapel with Rev. Durward Wofford officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.

alignjustify Casket Bearers will be Jimmie Beevers, Jack Merchant, Ricky Smith, Randy Smith, Wesley Droke, and Joe D. Thrasher. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Everett Coburn, Jakie Ford, Scotty Smith, Jackie Merchant, Brandi Campbell, and Nate Richie.
