Clifford Oscar Biggers was born in Melrose, NM to L. O. and Cressie Biggers on January 1, 1922. He died January 4, 2010 at Clovis Health Care and Rehab Center in Clovis, NM.
He graduated from Amarillo High School, Amarillo, TX, in 1941. He and Kathryn Sparks married on September 9, 1942 in Lubbock, TX. The next year he volunteered for the US Navy and served 27 months in the Pacific Theater of WWII on the USS Carlisle as a technician in radio and telegraphy. After the war he opened Biggers Radio and TV as owner and manager serving the Clovis community for the next sixty years.
Clifford and Kathryn live in the Melrose community where he was a member of First United Methodist Church for 57 years, a faithful member of Rotary for over 50 years, a member of the Lyons Club and an active participant in community activities.
He was a loving father, grandfather and greatgrandfather. He is survived by daughters Twyla Wade and Darla McGregor Roland McGregor, and a son, Randy Biggers Diane Biggers five grandchildren Valerie Wade May, Michele Wade Dansby John Dansby, Melanie Kay Winkle Nathan Winkle, Brent Smithson Mindi Smithson and Stephanie Nichole Biggers. Also surviving him are a sister Bernadine Biggers Jones, brothersinlaw Allen Sparks and Carl Sparks, numerous cousins, and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Burkes Biggers two sisters in their infancy brothersinlaw George Sparks, Harlan Sparks, Sam Wesley Jones and a grandson, Mark Kevin Wade, in 1988.
A service of worship giving thanks for Cliffords life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Melrose, NM, Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 10:00AM with Rev. Danny Sanders and Rev. Rick Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery.
