Cloreta Hawk

Cloreta Hawk of Clovis, NM died on November 21, 2013 at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. She was born on September 28, 1938 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico to J.D. and Ada Mae Fox.

Cloreta was raised in Fort Sumner and graduated from Fort Sumner High School in 1957. She attended and graduated from ENMU with a Bachelors in 1972 and received her Masters degree from ENMU in 1976. Cloreta married Weldon Hawk on May 31, 1977 in Fort Sumner, NM. She taught school for 30 years at Farwell and Clovis and retired in 2003 from Clovis Schools. She then substitute taught until her illness last year. Cloreta was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Red Hat Society, and the BPOE Does. She attended and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed to gamble and loved horse races. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved making crafts for others and liked to go fishing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Owen Fox, and a niece Jimmie Dee Fox.

Survivors include her husband, Weldon Hawk of the home, a son Eddie Christie Douglass of Amarillo, TX, a daughter DAun Jim Thorne of Phoenix, AZ, a son Olen LaTonne Douglass of Coahoma, TX, two stepsons Benny Hawk of Levelland, TX and Gary Hawk of Cincinnati, OH, a stepdaughter Carol Herb Edwards of Amarillo, TX, a brother Jimmy Fox of Fort Sumner, NM, a sister Maurcenia Gary Cross of Fort Sumner, NM, twelve grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Steed Todd Funeral Home, in Clovis, NM. Services will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Steed Todd Chapel. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery, in Fort Sumner, NM.
