Clyde Montague

Funeral Services for Clyde Ray Montague, 87, of Clovis will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 16th and Pile Church of Christ. Burial will be held at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Jim Gammon will be officiating. Clydes grandsons Christopher Miller, Colton Wall, Cooper Montague, Clint Montague, Clayton Montague and Justin Allen will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are all of Clydes grandchildren

Mr. Montague was born on February 7, 1925 and passed from this earth on June 24, 2012. Mr. Montague and his family moved to Portales in 1932. After serving in the US Army from 19461947, he met and married Trixie Dean Chenault on July 20, 1947. Clyde and Trixie celebrated their 65th anniversary this past Friday. Clyde and Trixie moved from Portales to their current home south of Grier in 1950. Mr. Montague enjoyed being surrounded by his family and working his cattle and continued to operate his ranch until just recently. Mr. Montague has been a well known and respected member of the Grier community, operating the Grier Farmers Cooperative Elevator for over 30 years, retiring in 1991.

Mr. Montague is survived by his wife Trixie of the home his children: Clydene and Roy Miller of Santa Fe, Algene and Covey Wall of Dora, Ray and Melba Montague of Clovis, Ronnie and Donna Montague of Clovis eleven grandchildren nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Montague not the youngest of the 12, was preceded in death by eleven siblings.
