Corey Shaun McKenna was born at Roosevelt General Hospital on December 28, 1985 to Raymond McKenna and Betsy McKenna-Jones.
He was a wonderful Father, Brother, Son, Husband, and Friend. He loved his family more than anything. Everything he did, he did for them. He was a giant teddy bear who gave the best hugs. From the age of 6 he was the family tech support, helping his mother whenever her "anti-technology field" caused her problems (all the time). He fixed everyone's phones and computers whenever he was asked and he only rolled his eyes a few times when we did the same thing wrong 8 times in a row. His sense of humor was legendary. He could make anyone laugh in any situation, in fact by all accounts his sense of humor is reported to be the only reason he made it to adulthood. He would be in the worst trouble and make his mom laugh then quietly disappear avoiding her wrath. His smile would light up a room and the world is a darker place for having lost him.
His boys Johnny Ray & Corey Shawn were the center of his world. He was so proud of them and how they were growing into such wonderful young men. He will be missed beyond measure. He was lucky enough to find his soulmate Tara Williams in his teen years. Tara and he were a beautiful couple, full of humor & love, who lived life to the fullest. They passed away together March 10th, 2018 in Clovis, NM.
They leave behind their two sons, Johnny Ray Gavin McKenna (12) & Corey Shawn McKenna Jr. (10); as well as Corey's Mother Betsy Jones; Father and Stepmother, Raymond & Linda McKenna; Grandmothers, Helen Drake & Philamean McKenna; his Sister, Shannon Grosch & Niece, Emelia Grosch; as well as many uncle, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tara Williams McKenna; his son, Parker Jordan McKenna; Sister, Megan Heather McKenna; Grandfathers, Harold Drake & Edward McKenna; and Aunt Christine Daves. They will both be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service for Corey and Tara will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018, 2:00pm at Steed Todd Funeral Chapel.
