Craig Bell

Craig Michael Bell, 64, of Lubbock, Texas, went to his heavenly home on June 20, 2009. There will be a graveside service for him on June 27, 2009, at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis, New Mexico at 9:00 a.m. with a memorial service following at Central Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Herbert Bergstrom and Chaplain Ken Cartwright will officiate.

He was born on November 20, 1944, in Clovis to Glenn and Alice Bell. He attended Central Baptist Church and LSSLC Chapel. He belonged to the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed his days on the farm, riding with Dad on the John Deere tractor.

When Craig was 13, he was injured in a motor scooter accident. In 1961, he moved to Brown School in Austin, Texas. In 1969, he moved to Lubbock, Texas where he lived at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center, until his death. His gentle, warrior spirit and sense of humor made him many friends, among the staff and other residents.

Craig is survived by his sister - Judy Abernathy and brother-in-law, E. G. Abernathy, niece - Misty Abernathy, niece - Shay Reichert and her husband, Lance Wayne Reichert, their children, Dacia and Gavin and uncle - Charles Petty.

He was preceded in death by his parents - Glenn and Alice Bell and his brother - Glenn Keith Bell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Community Relations of Lubbock State Supported Living Center, 3401 N. University, Lubbock, Texas 79415. The family wants to thank everyone at the Living Center for their tender, loving care given to him, through all of these years and to you, the Clovis Community, for your support of Craig and his family, through your prayers and gifts of friendship. Casket bearers will be Tommy Hartley, William Bell, Dale Petty, Gary Bell, Don Bell and Don Montgomery. Honorary casket bearers will be Charles Petty, Jerry Bell, Joey Young, Jay D. Denham Charles Kirksey.
